The Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme

Pry open your utility drawers and pull out those extra Taco Bell hot sauce packets from 2020 because you’ll want them for this recipe. After sharing some photos of my recent homemade Taco Bell dinner, I received numerous requests for the recipe. While I can’t take credit for this quick dinner, I’m excited to share how you can easily recreate it in your own kitchen. Thanks to Cooking in the Midwest, whose recipes have become a weekly lifesaver in my household, this recipe is a keeper. Keep scrolling for the simple steps of recreating this dish for your family.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • Taco seasoning (use a taco seasoning packet)
  • Large burrito size tortillas
  • Tostadas
  • Small tortillas
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Taco Bell Chipotle Sauce
  • Sour cream
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Taco sauce (I used Taco Bell Hot Sauce)

Steps:

1. Prepare the Savory Ground Beef: Begin by cooking the ground beef in a skillet until it’s fully cooked, drain any grease, and add the taco seasoning packet as directed.

2. Assemble the Base: Lay out a large burrito-sized tortilla on a clean surface. On the center of the tortilla, add a generous handful of shredded cheddar cheese, followed by a scoop of the seasoned ground beef.

3. Add the Crunch: Place a tostada on top of the ground beef layer.

4. Layer on the Freshness: Spread a dollop of sour cream over the tostada, followed by a layer of shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes.

5. Top it Off: To create a complete seal and that signature look, add a smaller tortilla on top. If using small tortillas, you can split one in half and place it over the ingredients.

6. Fold and Cook: Carefully fold up the sides of the large tortilla. With the folded side facing down, place the Crunchwrap Supreme in a skillet over medium heat. Cook until both sides turn a golden brown, ensuring the cheese inside is melted.

7. Serve and Savor: Once your Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme is done cooking, cut it in half and plate it up! Serve with your favorite taco sauce.

Creating your own Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme can be really fun to assemble with your kids but also a great way to enjoy a fast-food classic from the comfort of your home. It was also easy enough to cater to our toddlers by making a “separated” version on their divider plates. Whichever you choose for your family, I hope you enjoy!
